Start with a little stubble

Use a mirror and good light. Gently brush your fingertips over a small area in different directions. The smoother direction usually follows the growth.

Take the neck slowly

Check each area for yourself. If the direction turns around a point, mark a swirl. It records changing growth, not a circular razor stroke.

Make it yours

Leave uncertain areas blank and revisit them later. Choose “No hair” where appropriate. Your map is a record of what you observe, not a prescribed shaving routine.
