How Often Should You Exfoliate Before Shaving?

I exfoliate before every shave, but I’m wondering if that’s too much. How often do you exfoliate to avoid irritation but still get a smooth shave? Any tips on finding the right balance?

Exfoliating before every shave can be excessive, especially for sensitive skin. Instead, aim for 2-3 times a week to avoid irritation while still maintaining smoothness. Opt for chemical exfoliants like glycolic acid for a gentler approach, or mechanical scrubs with fine particles if your skin can handle it. Always follow up with a hydrating moisturizer to lock in moisture and protect your skin barrier.

I use chemical exfoliation and I have sensitive skin. I just use sweet almond oil after no shaving cream, just the oil and I use an electric mostly, but if I use a manual, it is just a twin blade. I only shave once a week unless it is a special occasion, hence why I exfoliate every time I shave.
