Best Shaving Routine for Oily Skin

Shaving oily skin can be a challenge, especially if you’re prone to irritation. I’ve found that exfoliating before shaving and using a good shaving gel helps a lot. What’s your go-to routine for keeping irritation at bay?

One often overlooked aspect of shaving oily skin is the role of pre-shave oil, which not only softens hair but also creates a protective barrier, reducing friction and irritation. While exfoliation is crucial, overdoing it can strip natural oils, leading to rebound oil production—stick to 2-3 times weekly. Post-shave, opt for non-alcoholic toners like witch hazel, which soothe without overdrying. Additionally, using a safety razor with a single blade minimizes drag and reduces the risk of ingrown hairs compared to multi-blade razors. Lastly, a lightweight, oil-free moisturizer post-shave helps maintain balance without clogging pores.

Cold water post-shave tightens pores and reduces oil.
